Motorola Droid 2 to Get 1.2GHz Overlock With Software Update?

Android phones are becoming more and more advanced as time goes on both on the software and hardware level. While Google is the governing body behind the Android operating system, it’s up to hardware manufacutrers to provide consumers with powerful hardware to run said platform. Motorola, in particular, is one of the key hardware partners that contribute to Android’s overall success. Several of their devices have seen the limelight such as the Motorola Droid X but the original Droid is arguably what started the Android craze. Following in the iconic device’s footsteps is the Motorola Droid 2 which features various updates both on an aesthetic and hardware level. Another version of the Droid 2, commonly referred to as the Droid 2 Global Edition, features a processor that is clocked at 1.2GHz while the regular Droid 2 is clocked at just 1GHz. Well, Verizon has recently put up an ad on their website for the Droid 2 that says the device features a 1.2GHz. While one would normally assume that this would just be a mix up, it begs the question if Motorola will actually update the Droid 2 and overclock the 1GHz processor to 1.2GHz. This wouldn’t be too surprising considering they both feature the same processsor. Then again, if Motorola doesn’t overclock the processor, the top notch hacking community is sure to do so. We’ll keep you posted as this one unfolds. via androidspin Popularity: 1% [ ? ] Incoming search terms for this article: Tags: 1.2ghz , 1ghz , cpu , Droid 2 , Droid X , global edition , Motorola , overclock , Processor This entry passed through the Full-Text RSS service — if this is your content and you're reading it on someone else's site, please read our FAQ page at fivefilters.org/content-only/faq.php Five Filters featured article: Beyond Hiroshima - The Non-Reporting of Falluja's Cancer Catastrophe .
