Samsung Focus / Omnia 7: USB Tethering Hack – How To Guide

If you are one of those lucky ones who have picked up either the Samsung Focus or Samsung Omnia 7 devices that are part of the new Windows Phone 7 range, you might have noticed that Tethering was not included on the device. But we have a solution to your problem. If you do a bit of research, you will find that a couple of websites on the internet have found a way to “hack” the device to turn your WP7 handset into a fully working and functional USB tethering handset. The device will be used as a 3G modem using Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 platform, and to do this you will need to dial ##634# which will bring you to a diagnostics menu. From the list, you can then select one of three options, the middle one being “Modem, Tethered Call.” After selecting this you will be presented with a few more prompts to which you will then be able to use and set up USB tethering. Even though this feature does not come as standard, it is easily achieved by doing as we have stated above.
